![]() What sorts of messages are going to be sent to my wireless device? Well, the content of the messages will vary, but they will all be smaller than ~125 characters in length, which is the maximum most SMS capable phones will allow. How often will you be sending messages out to the pocket mailing list? The frequency of messages will vary from one or two a week to several a week. You shouldn't receive more than 2 messages on any given day. How do I know my phone/handheld computer/wireless device can receive text messages? You should check your owner's manual or call your service provider and ask them about receiving email, text messages, or SMS messages on your device. Why do you need my cell phone number? And "my service provider's domain name"? What the heck is that? If you've got a wireless device, you most likely have a wireless service provider. If your device has the capability to receive email or text messages, you are assigned an email address along with your phone number (or pager number). (Note: this does not apply if you have a wireless device without a phone number, like a Palm V.) Typically, your email address is your full phone number (with area code) @ the domain name your service provider uses for their wireless customers. For example, if your cell number is (415) 555-4398 and your service provider is AT&T, the email address for sending text messages to your phone would be: 4155554398@mobile.att.net. A list of service providers and their corresponding domain names is available by clicking on "choose a provider" above. If your provider isn't on there, you should contact them to find out which domain name to use for wireless text messaging. Are you going to use my phone number for bad things? Absolutely not. I will not call your phone. I will not give your number to anyone. I will not sell your number to anyone. I will not write your number in a bathroom stall preceded by the words "for a good time call". The only thing I'm going to use your phone number for is sending you pocket via email or text messaging. That's it. How do I unsubscribe from pocket? To unsubscribe, just enter your information in the form above, check the button next to "unsubscribe", submit the form, and I'll remove you from the list. |
